Welcome to Transparent Elections

Welcome to transparentelections.org.ph, a website dedicated to the cause of clean and honest elections. This site was organized by a group of concerned citizens, all of them ICT practitioners, to promote the adoption of an Open Election System (OES) for Philippine national and local elections in 2010 … and beyond. The OES group believes that transparency is the key to the success of any election automation effort and that the system used for the 2010 elections should address this overriding objective so that the results of the election shall truly be reflective of the people’s will. To this end, the group has developed a system built around the open source model in both technology and process. Through this site, we will make the system’s design and source code available to the public for review and comment. After applying the valid comments, we will finalize the system, then provide copies to the Comelec, the political parties, citizens arms, and media. With the Comelec adopting the system, all data, down to the precinct level, will become available to the public, via the Internet. Also, through this site, we hope to build and grow a community of concerned citizens like ourselves who believe that, in a democracy, elections are a people’s sacred right and responsibility to make its will known and that the integrity of such a process must be defended.
